Grade 1/2 Combo

Sarah unruh

Welcome to Room 28! My name is Sarah Unruh, and I’m grateful and excited to be teaching at Coyote Creek. I have been an educator since graduating from University of Maryland (Go Terps!) in 2010. While my husband was serving in the Navy, we moved extensively, living in Washington D.C., Florida, Virginia, and Southern California, and during this time I taught a variety of elementary grades. We are now very happy to be out of the Navy and settled in beautiful Walnut Creek with our two young children. I’m thrilled to be serving the community by working in two grades that I love to teach.

In addition to being a credentialed elementary school teacher, I hold a Master of Science (M.S.) in Literacy and Reading Education from CSU Fullerton, and am credentialed as a Reading and Literacy Leadership Specialist.

For me, my passion for teaching is rooted in getting to know each child individually and in watching my students progress and grow collectively. In my classroom, I strive to foster a sense of community, while maintaining strong awareness of each student’s individuality, personality, and needs. As such, I understand the ways in which parents and teachers complement one another in meeting children’s developmental necessities. I look forward to working together and am thrilled to be a member of the wonderful Coyote Creek community!
