2016-17 Instructional Calendar Survey

Exploration of Changes to San Ramon Valley Unified Instructional Calendar 2016-2017

 

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District has convened a committee of parents, staff and community partners to explore the possibility of changing the instructional calendar in order to end the first semester for middle and high schools before the start of the Winter Break. While this shift would not have as great of an impact on the trimester system at the elementary schools, it will impact our current elementary students as they matriculate to middle school and beyond.

The current discussion is focused on the instructional calendar for 2016-2017 and beyond. You may be aware that districts across the county are analyzing their respective calendars and considering what options may be available to maximize the instructional environment for students and staff.

 

For our middle and high school students and staff, ending the first semester in December would mean a Winter Break free from assignments and studying for pending exams. The second semester would start when school resumes in January. This change would have little impact on the Winter Break for elementary schools. However, in order to end the first semester before the Winter Break, the TK-12 instructional calendar would shift forward. School would start earlier in August and end earlier in June or late May. The committee is discussing the implications of this shift on all programs, including those offered by our community partners. 

 

The committee understands that this would be a change for our parents, students, staff and community. In this early stage in the discussion, in order to better understand the needs and interests of our community, we are seeking input through an online survey. Please take about 10 minutes of your time to fill out the following survey to share your thoughts on changing the instructional calendar.

Also, please note that the Board of Education has already approved the instructional calendar for the 2015-2016 school year. That calendar is available for your reference on our district website, www.srvusd.net.

This is just the first step in our discussions around shifting the instructional calendar. We will continue to seek input and provide information prior to any recommendation being brought to the Board of Education. Seeking Applicants for Parcel Tax Oversight Committee

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is seeking members for its Parcel Tax Oversight Committee.

 

The committee provides oversight for the Board of Education to ensure that the funds are spent as intended by the voters of the parcel tax.  The committee meets at least twice per year and reports on an annual basis to the Board and community on how these funds have been spent.  All meetings are open to the public.

 

Six positions (5 members and 1 alternate) will be appointed by the Board of Education. Parcel Tax committee members serve two-year terms.  They will not be compensated and will serve no more than two consecutive terms.  Members shall reside within the boundaries of the SRVUSD and be registered voters.

 

Applications are due no later than February 17, 2015.  Recommendations/appointments will be made at the March 24 Board of Education meeting.

TK - Students born between Sept. 2 - Dec. 2nd, 2010 are eligible for TK

Kindergarten Students - Must be 5 years on or before Sept. 1st, 2015

ENROLLMENT WINDOWS:

  • FEB 2- 27 -All current TK students and  Sibling TK AND K enrollment (Families that have a sibling currently enrolled at Coyote Creek)

 

  • FEB 9 – 27 Nonsibling Enrollment: For all families that are new to Coyote Creek for the 2015-16 school year, enrollment will start Monday, February 9th.  You can complete your online enrollment anytime, but bring papers to the office during this window.

 ALL ONLINE AND ENROLLMENT FORMS NEED TO BE IN THE COYOTE CREEK OFFICE BY 3:00PM ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH TO BE CONSIDERED FOR A LOTTERY IF A LOTTERY IS NEEDED.
